Liam Ding(丁洪)

Product manager with experience in ADAS and automotive software. I write about product decisions in autonomous driving and robotics: how to define useful capabilities, evaluate real-world performance, and build user trust.

Selected writing

Longer pieces where I try to work out what a product decision in autonomous driving or robotics should actually be based on. All of them are written in Chinese; English versions are in the pipeline (see the writing plan on the writing page).

Momenta's IPO: a coming-of-age for 'physical AI', or the end of the autonomous-driving narrative?

What the Hong Kong listing of "the first physical-AI stock" says about a market that has stopped betting on whether autonomy is technically possible and started betting on whether it is commercially closed-loop - read from an investor's and a robotics product manager's point of view.

Rebuilding the middle layer: a product manager's survival guide for the AI era

Why the product manager as "translator" is dissolving, what replaces that role when specifications become probabilistic instead of deterministic, and how product organisations have to be re-shaped around it.

Containerising cognitive assets: why Claude Skills are closer to the endgame of the SOP

A first-principles argument that agent workflows rather than prompt stores are where the last mile of LLM adoption gets solved - and that the value gets captured in private enterprise skill libraries, not public app stores.

50 hours on Clubhouse: field notes from a product manager

A product teardown written in 2021 after spending 50 hours in Clubhouse: onboarding, room mechanics, the distribution of speakers and listeners, the follow-graph feed, and an honest attempt to name the value the product actually delivered.

A tale of two cities in AI capex: why Wall Street cheered Meta's billions and punished Microsoft's

Both companies announced record AI capital expenditure in the same earnings season and the market did the opposite thing with each. The difference came down to return on investment - and to the end of unconditional AI enthusiasm.

This site runs itself

The everyday content on this site (daily AI news digests, the AI Builders digest, and a weekly audio briefing) is produced by a scheduled pipeline I built: it collects sources, drafts with an LLM, renders audio, and commits to this repository.

Get in touch

I am interested in product roles where autonomous driving, ADAS or robotics has to become a product people actually trust — and in talking to people working on the same problems.
